Jay Idzes Disappointed With Indonesia Vs Lebanon Series Results, But Completely Positive

JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team had to settle for the goalless draw against Lebanon on FIFA Matchday at Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Monday, September 8, 2025, WIB night.

Despite dominating the match and pressing the Lebanese defense for most of the match, the Garuda Squad failed to break the deadlock until the end.

The captain of the Indonesian national team, Jay Idzes, admitted that he was disappointed to see the results.

"We played very well, mentality as well as intensity. We wanted to win, but we were unlucky after the final third."

"We have many opportunities and we have done anything, but goals never came. Lebanon is also not easy to play here, with our supporters full. We ourselves try to fight, play fair play and friendly," said Idzes after the match.

However, the Sassuolo player did not want to be fixated on the results. He saw the whole thing that the Indonesian national team was developing in a positive direction.

Two FIFA Matchday matches were used as good preparation to welcome the 2026 World Cup Qualification Fourth Round in October 2025.

"We have a bugus mentality and intensity in this preparation. This match (FIFA Matchday) is for a bigger match in October."

"We have been in good preparation. Most importantly, as long as FIFA Matchday no players are injured," said the centre-back.

Meanwhile, he also hopes that the Indonesian national team supporters will also provide massive support directly when appearing in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers which will take place in Saudi Arabia.

The Garuda squad will meet strong opponents of Saudi Arabia and Iraq on October 9 and 12, 2025.

"Thank you for supporting, thank you for coming. We play for you. We look forward to getting more enthusiasm next month. We are waiting for you in Saudi Arabia," said Idzes.
