Still Pandemic, Menag Yaqut Will Be Imam And Khatib Idulfitri Prayer In His Home

JAKARTA - Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas will perform takbiran and Eid al-Fitr prayers 1442 Hijri with his family at home. This is done to prevent the transmission of COVID-19.

"I will also be at home with my core family, children and wife. Thursday morning, I will be the imam and khatib Salat Id at home," Yaqut was quoted as saying from his written statement, Wednesday, May 12.

He hopes that all Muslims can take lessons from the celebration of Eid al-Fitr during the pandemic. Moreover, this is the second Eid al-Fitr in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

So, when becoming khatib, Yaqut will bring a message themed eid celebration in the middle of the pandemic. "I will convey khatib message about the wisdom of fasting and the spirit of Eid al-Fitr in the middle of the pandemic," he said.

Furthermore, he invited all parties to take advantage of the momentum of this holiday by glorifying the name of Allah through takbir and tahmid.

In addition, Yaqut asked all Muslims to continue to implement health protocols in celebrating Eid al-Fitr.

"Because it is still a pandemic, let's worship and spread by still applying health protocols and discipline 5M, namely wearing masks, keeping distance, washing hands, avoiding crowds, and reducing mobility," he said.

Previously, Spokesperson of task force (Task Force) handling COVID-19 Wiku Adisasmito asked people in the red and orange zone not to recklessly perform Eid prayer in the mosque. They are asked to pray at home to prevent crowds from happening.

This zoning map can be accessed by the public through the website provided by the COVID-19 Task Force, namely covid-19.go.id.

"Related to Salat Id for people in the two zones (red and orange) can choose to pray at home in congregation. The goal is to avoid creating crowds that have the potential to become areas of COVID-19 transmission," Wiku said in a press conference posted on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube, Wednesday, May 12.

Wiku said, trying to protect yourself and others in the middle of a pandemic like today is one form of worship.

In addition, Wiku also asked people in the two zones not to conduct physical contact. "Take advantage of existing technology to conduct virtual friendships with relatives and other relatives," he said.

So is the gift giving. Wiku said, people should take advantage of package delivery methods and money transfers online.

"The task force understands this situation may not seem ideal especially considering we want to apologize directly to the people closest to us. However, all these forms of prevention are an important part of our efforts to accelerate the resolution of COVID-19 in Indonesia," he said
