COVID-19 Task Force Admits The Policy Of Homecoming Prohibition Has Not Been Perfectly Implemented
JAKARTA - Task Force (Task Force) Spokesperson on Handling COVID-19 Wiku Adisasmito admitted that the policy of banning homecoming has not been perfectly implemented in the field. However, this policy will still be implemented in accordance with applicable rules.
"The government realizes that the implementation of the homecoming ban policy is not completely perfect," Wiku said at a press conference posted on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube account, Wednesday, May 12.
In the future, he said the government will better anticipate the backflow of Eid al-Fitr homecoming. One of them, by tightening the checking of negative COVID-19 certificate for people who travel.
Wiku explained that COVID-19 test letter must be owned by the community that applies 1x24. This provision applies to all modes of transportation from May 18-24.
"The government will anticipate the backflow after Eid al-Fitr. Therefore, the government continues to improve coordination and cooperation across ministries and lemabaga by tightening mobility through negative TEST letters of COVID-19," wiku said.
" (Covid-19 negative test letter, red) samples were taken within 1x24 hours for all modes of transportation from May 18-24," he added.
Not only that, the government will conduct random tests at a number of strategic points. This is done to suppress the spread of COVID-19 that occurs during the Eid al-Fitr homecoming.
Wiku asked people to pray that Indonesia will be freed from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Thus, during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr next year all activities can return to normal. In addition to praying, people are asked to adhere to health protocols.
"I ask all Indonesians to be able to make the most of this mustajab time, to pray to God, to free Indonesia from the COVID-19 pandemic. So that Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr can be held normally and without the shadow of the COVID-19 pandemic," he said.
Previously reported, the central government prohibits homecoming communities from May 6-17. All passenger transport vehicles ranging from private cars, buses to motorcycles are prohibited from operating.
If the community recklessly violates, then the officer will give sanctions in the form of a u-turn or punishment in accordance with applicable regulations. The policy is carried out to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 which often rises during long holidays.
Although the government strictly prohibits homecoming, but there are several types of vehicles that are still allowed to pass, namely logistics distribution service vehicles, work or service needs, sick family visits, family visits, pregnant women accompanied by one family member, and the interests of childbirth.
