Government Encourages Larger Discounts At Harbolnas 2025

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto encouraged the 2025 National Shopping Day (Harbolnas) program to present a larger discount than the previous year.

"As usual, Harbolnas is a steep discount, deep. So of course we hope that the discount can also be increased," he said at the Kick Off Road to Harbolnas 2025, Monday, September 8.

He mentioned again the 17 percent discount program which was held in commemoration of the INDONESIA's 80th Anniversary on August 17, 2025, was able to encourage an increase in people's purchasing power.

Therefore, Airlangga hopes that the 2025 Harbolnas celebration will not only be lively on online platforms, but also reach the offline sector.

"Therefore, we will encourage not only online, but offline ones. Also retail and also in malls in December there is also a program," he said.

Airlangga emphasized that this joint discount program aims to strengthen people's purchasing power by presenting products offered at affordable and competitive prices.

"Now we also ask for more MSME products. So last year we asked for 30 percent this year to be higher than that," he explained.

The 2025 National Online Shopping Day (Harbolnas) activity will be held for a week, starting from December 10, 2025 to December 16, 2025.

Airlangga said that the 2025 National Online Shopping Day (Harbolnas) is targeted to be able to reap a transaction value of IDR 33 trillion to IDR 35 trillion. This figure is higher than the transaction value last year of IDR 31.2 trillion.

According to him, Harbolnas activities are important because it is a strategic momentum to strengthen the role of MSMEs, which are part of the middle class in Indonesia.

He added that activities that support the strengthening of the middle class need to continue to be expanded, both in terms of ecosystem development, increasing producer capacity, and expanding distribution channels (pipelines), including through e-commerce platforms that reach consumers directly.

In the Kick Off Road to Harbolnas 2025, Airlangga also hopes that MSME players will be more prepared and optimal in utilizing the expenditure momentum.

In addition, he explained that last year, about 31 percent of total transactions came from local products and hoped that this figure could increase by 2025 in line with strengthening the Proudly Made in Indonesia campaign.

"So in the context of road to Harbolnas, MSME activities are increasingly being encouraged, especially the proud campaign made in Indonesia and of course I hope that Indonesian products, the Indonesian platform can increase the number so that starting from products, pipelines to consumers can increase," he explained.

He also emphasized the importance of collaboration with the logistics sector, to ensure this program can provide broad benefits, both for producers and consumers throughout Indonesia.
