The TNI Is Still Helping Security On The Request Of The National Police Chief
JAKARTA - Inspector General of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (Irjen TNI) Rear Admiral TNI Hersan said TNI soldiers are still helping to secure security and public order (kamtibmas) at the request of the National Police Chief.
"We are still on standby until now, it is still in the capital city," said TNI Admiral Hersan when met after a press conference at the ministerial level coordination meeting in Jakarta, Monday, September 8.
If the government and the police have declared a safe and convincing situation, then the TNI will return to their respective units.
Laksa Hersana admitted that he did not know how long TNI soldiers were placed in several places in Indonesia.
"We are still on standby to help maintain the stability of this nation's security and order. Of course we are to keep it all, our desire is to be safe and orderly," he said.
Previously, the TNI Headquarters confirmed that it placed large numbers of soldiers at several points in Indonesia, one of which was in Jakarta.
According to the Head of the Information Center of the TNI Headquarters (Kapuspen) TNI Headquarters Brigadier General (Mar) Freddy Ardianzah, the placement of soldiers was carried out to keep the area conducive.

"The presence of TNI soldiers in the field is a form of preparedness as well as preventive steps to ensure the situation remains safe and conducive, so that people can carry out their activities calmly," said Freddy when confirmed by ANTARA in Jakarta, Wednesday (3/9).
Freddy said the placement of the soldiers was in accordance with the direct instructions of the TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto.
In the security activities, said Freddy, the TNI will coordinate with the National Police to increase the intensity of security in the field.
Freddy ensured that soldiers would continue to be on the field until the situation on the ground was really conducive.
When asked about the connection between the placement of soldiers at several points with the Security of the Swakarsa Community, Freddy denied this.
"This step is not related to Pam Swakarsa. The current involvement of the TNI is part of an official operation to secure a structured state, has a clear legal umbrella, and is focused on preventing potential threats and disturbances to national stability," said Freddy.
