Demo Ends Riot At The End Of August Considered To Be The Trigger For Prabowo Reshuffle 5 Ministers

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto held a cabinet reshuffle, where the position of 5 ministers was reshuffled before one year of his leadership to become head of state.

Political researcher from the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) Wasisto Raharjo Jati assessed that today's cabinet reshuffle was Prabowo's evaluation of his subordinates.

However, according to him, there is one reason that also encourages a reshuffle, namely a series of demonstrations that led to riots in a number of areas at the end of last August.

"Basic greetings of course are the results of periodic evaluations and achievements of existing programs, whether they are in accordance with or not in accordance with the expectations of the president. Last week's major demonstration seems to be one of the triggers for this reshuffle," Wasisto told reporters, Monday, September 8.

Wasisto also views that Prabowo's reshuffle was carried out as a symbolic effort to fulfill the aspirations made by the government after the conditions were safe and under control.

"It seems that yesterday's big demonstration that sparked viral news involving ministerial performance performance performance performance is the key reason," he said.

President Prabowo Subianto reshuffled five ministers in his cabinet which was held at the State Palace, Jakarta, Monday afternoon. This replacement is said to have been carried out with various considerations.

"On various considerations of input and evaluation carried out continuously by the President, this afternoon the President at the same time made changes to the composition of the red and white cabinet in several ministry positions," said Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi at a press conference at the State Palace complex, Jakarta, Monday, September 8.

In this cabinet reshuffle, Mukhtarudin was appointed as Minister of Protection for Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI)/Head of the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI) replacing Abdul Kadir Karding.

Purbaya Yudhi Sadive was appointed as Minister of Finance (Menkeu) replacing Sri Mulyani Indrawati, then inaugurated Ferry Joko Juliantono as Minister of Cooperatives replacing Budi Arie Setiadi, and also appointed Mochamad Irfan Yusuf Hasyim as Minister of Hajj and Umrah along with Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak as Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah.

Prabowo Subianto also dismissed Budi Gunawan as Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs (Menko Polkam) and Ariotedjo Bimo Nandito Ariotedjo as Minister of Youth and Sports. So far Prabowo has not appointed a replacement for Dito or Budi Gunawan.

The entire process of inauguration and appointment of officials is based on Presidential Decree No. 86P 2025 concerning the Dismissal and Appointment of the Ministers and Deputy Ministers of the Red and White Cabinet 2024-2029.
