Hamas Ready For New Proposal Negotiations For Ceasefire And Hostage Release

JAKARTA - Palestinian militant group Hamas said it had accepted a new ceasefire proposal from the United States through mediators, expressing its readiness to continue negotiations.

"We received some ideas from the American side through mediators to reach a ceasefire agreement," the group said in a statement on Telegram on Sunday, quoted from the Global TRT September 8.

Hamas further said he welcomed every step that supported efforts to stop aggression against our people.

The group showed its readiness to "sit immediately at the negotiating table to discuss the release of all detainees in exchange for a clear declaration to end the war and the full withdrawal (Israeli troops) from the Gaza Strip".

Hamas has also approved the establishment of an independent Palestinian committee to manage the administrative affairs of the enclave and demanded that Israel ensure its commitment to what will be agreed upon in the agreement, "to prevent a repeat of past experiences in which an agreement was reached but later rejected or canceled".

The Palestinian militant group noted that on August 18 they received proposals from Egyptian and Qatar mediators based on US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff's proposal, but "the population (Israel) has not responded so far, but continues the massacre and campaign for ethnic cleansing".

"Therefore, the Hamas movement continues to communicate with mediators to develop these ideas into a comprehensive agreement that meets the demands of our people," he added.

As previously reported, US President Donald Trump said on Sunday he submitted a proposal to reach a ceasefire and a hostage exchange agreement in Gaza, claiming full Israeli approval.

"Israel has accepted my terms. It's time for Hamas to also accept," President Trump said in a post on his Truth Social platform.

"I have warned Hamas about the consequences if it does not receive. This is my last warning, there will be no other warning!" he said.

Under the deal, Hamas will release the remaining 48 hostages on the first day of the ceasefire in exchange for thousands of Palestinian prisoners imprisoned in Israel and negotiate a halt to the war during the ceasefire in the enclave, according to Israel's N12 News.

Separately, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Office said they were still "seriously considering" Trump's proposal.

Hamas has repeatedly expressed its readiness to reach a comprehensive agreement with Israel to release all Israeli prisoners in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, end the war in Gaza, and ensure the full withdrawal of Israeli troops.

However, PM Netanyahu has rejected the proposal, and has insisted on partial arrangements that allow it to delay and impose new requirements at each stage of negotiations.
