COVID-19 Task Force Asks People In Red And Orange Zones Not To Recklessly Perform Id Prayers In Mosques

JAKARTA - Task Force (Task Force) Spokesman for Handling COVID-19 Wiku Adisasmito asked people in the red and orange zone not to recklessly perform Eid prayer in mosques. They are asked to pray at home to prevent crowds from happening.

This zoning map can be accessed by the public through the website provided by the COVID-19 Task Force, namely covid-19.go.id.

"Related to Salat Id for people in the two zones (red and orange) can choose to pray at home in congregation. The goal is to avoid creating crowds that have the potential to become areas of COVID-19 transmission," Wiku said in a press conference posted on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube, Wednesday, May 12.

He said, trying to protect yourself and others in the middle of a pandemic like today is one form of worship.

In addition, Wiku also asked people in the two zones not to conduct physical contact. "Take advantage of existing technology to conduct virtual friendships with relatives and other relatives," he said.

So is the gift giving. Wiku said, people should take advantage of package delivery methods and money transfers online.

"The task force understands this situation may not seem ideal especially considering we want to apologize directly to the people closest to us. However, all these forms of prevention are an important part of our efforts to accelerate the resolution of COVID-19 in Indonesia," he said.

Local governments in both zonings are required to strictly enforce health protocols. Not only that, the head of the district is also asked to set a good example.

"Do not let the head of the region become a stumbling block because it violates health protocols," said Wiku.

Meanwhile, people in green and yellow zones are allowed to perform Eid prayers outside the house. However, the capacity of the place of implementation remains limited to 50 percent.

In addition, worshippers are also required to wear masks throughout the prayer series. Then, wudoo' should be done at home to avoid queues and prayer times and dhikr after prayer is shortened.

"For people who have fever or show symptoms of COVID-19 please do not join the congregational prayers," he said.

Wiku said face-to-face practices in two zonings, green and yellow, are allowed. However, this does not mean physical contact is allowed.

"Physical contact remains prohibited in the area within this zoning. Therefore, it is advisable to conduct a virtual relationship with a video call or video conference," he said.

"The task force is aware that the policies put in place in the yellow and green zone areas look a little lighter. However, in principle physical contact in this zone is still prohibited," he concluded.
