Total Lunar Eclipse Will Be Visible In The Southeast Sulawesi Sky

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said that a total lunar eclipse will appear in the sky of districts and cities throughout the Southeast Sulawesi Province tonight, Sunday 7 September.

Head of BMKG Geophysics Station Kendari Rudin when contacted in Kendari, Sunday, said that the total lunar eclipse occurred when the position of the sun, earth, and moon were aligned on a straight line, thus making the moon enter the shadow of the core or the moon umbra.

"This incident, which is one of the consequences of the dynamic movement of the position of the sun, earth, and moon, only occurs during the full moon and can be predicted previously," said Rudin quoting ANTARA, September 7.

According to Rudin, when the peak of the eclipse occurs, the moon will look red if the sky is not cloudy, and can be seen directly with the naked eye.

He also said that if the total lunar eclipse could be seen in almost all of Indonesia, as well as in Southeast Sulawesi, all 17 districts and cities could see it live, which would occur from 23.26 WITA to Monday (8/9) at 04.56 WITA.

"The Kendari Geophysics Station will also conduct a total lunar eclipse observation, on September 7, 2025 at the Kendari Geophysics Station Office Courtyard," he explained.

As for the timing of the total lunar eclipse phase, starting at 23.56 WITA, the penumbral eclipse phase, then at 00.26 WITA the partial eclipse phase began, 01.30 WITA the total eclipse began, 02.11 Wita the peak of the eclipse, 02.53 Wita the total eclipse ended, 03.56 Wita the partial eclipse ended, and at 04.56 WITA the penumbral eclipse ended.
