Governor Of South Sumatra: Karang Asam Festival 2025 Regional Economic Drivers
MUARA ENIM - Governor of South Sumatra (Sumsel) Herman Deru said that the Karang Asam Festival 2025 which took place in Lawang Kidul District, Muara Enim Regency, could be a driving force for the regional economy and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
South Sumatra Governor Herman Deru, in Muara Enim, Saturday, said that this festival proves that cultural-based activities can have a direct impact on the welfare of the community.
"Because hundreds of MSME booths that peddle culinary, handicrafts, and local products are attractions for visitors," he said again.

He emphasized the importance of collaboration between various parties in the success of regional events, so that it can make Karang Asam Festival included in the Karisma Event Nusantara (KEN) national calendar.
According to him, the festival, which lasted for seven days, provides broad space for MSME players to introduce their superior products.
"Not only typical foods in Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatra, but also handicrafts and other creative products," he asserted.
The governor emphasized that the South Sumatra Provincial Government will continue to support similar events and it is hoped that the Karang Asam Festival will become an annual agenda that will encourage the growth of the creative economy.
"This festival must continue to develop. With collaboration, we can make it a driving force for the regional economy," he said again.
Muara Enim Regent Edison added that this festival has revived the post-pandemic community's economy.
The activity featured various arts and cultural performances that further added to the attractiveness of tourists.
Karang Asam Festival 2025 is expected to be a momentum for the economic revival of the community where local products are increasingly known.
"The high enthusiasm of visitors provides a great opportunity for local traders to increase income," he said again
