The Ministry Of Public Works Calls 65 People's Schools Ready To Operate In Early September 2025

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) said, as many as 65 People's Schools (SR) were ready to operate in early September 2025.

Quoted from the upload of the official Instagram account @kementerianpu, Saturday, September 6, the 65 SR can accommodate 6,190 students from elementary, junior high to high school, involving nearly 1,000 teachers and more than 1,000 education staff.

"These schools are spread across 65 locations throughout Indonesia, from Aceh to Papua. These 65 SR are a continuation of the Phase I People's School Program in the form of renovation of existing buildings to be used as public schools," wrote the Ministry of Public Works.

The Ministry of Public Works explained that out of a total of 165 SR, 100 of them had been operating in July 2025.

As the organizer of the construction of the People's School, the Ministry of Public Works ensures that basic infrastructure, such as school buildings, dormitories, sanitation, and other learning support facilities are adequate.

"This is important so that children from extreme poor families can access quality education," he explained.

The SR program is a manifestation of #PU608's commitment in line with President Prabowo Subianto's Astacita to develop the country by educating the nation's children, paving the way for the future to be brighter and fairer for all Indonesian children.

"Because every child has the right to have equal learning opportunities," he explained.

To note, the work of the People's School is divided into two stages. Phase I, the Ministry of Public Works has renovated 165 SR starting May 10, 2025. In detail, as many as 100 SR was completed on July 14, 2025 and 65 other SR were completed at the end of last August.

Then, for phase II, the Ministry of Public Works began to carry out the construction of only 100 People's School buildings in September 2025.

Previously, the Ministry of Public Works proposed an additional Dipa Effective Ceiling for the 2025 fiscal year (TA) of IDR 2.6 trillion.

PU Minister Dody Hanggodo revealed, with this addition, the total Dipa FY 2025 ceiling of the Ministry of Public Works was IDR 86.6 trillion.

"Initially, according to the DPR's working meeting on July 9, 2025 yesterday, the total Dipa ceiling was Rp. 83.96 trillion, but this afternoon we proposed an additional effective ceiling of Rp. 2.6 trillion. So, our total Dipa ceiling is Rp. 86.60 trillion," said Dody at a Working Meeting with Commission V DPR RI at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, September 4.

Dody detailed that the additional budget proposal will be used for the completion of the 1C phase of public schools (SR), which supports around 63 renovations in 63 locations in the country amounting to Rp400 billion.

Then, worth IDR 2.2 trillion will be allocated for the continuation of the multi-year contract (MYC).
