David Lemmy Becomes British Deputy PM, Yvette Cooper Appointed As New Foreign Minister
JAKARTA - British Interior Minister Yvette Cooper has been appointed as the new British foreign minister, replacing David Lemmy, who will become deputy prime minister, as well as a justice minister in a massive cabinet reshuffle.
Keir Starmer's first cabinet reshuffle was carried out more than a year after he served as prime minister following Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner's resignation on Friday, September 5 morning.
Shabana Mahmood turned from justice minister to interior minister after Cooper was appointed new foreign minister.
Meanwhile, Rachel Reeves remains the chancellor, and Lisa Nandy will remain minister of culture.
As reported by ANTARA from Anadolu, Saturday, September 6, as part of a cabinet reshuffle, Lucy Powell was sacked as leader of the House of Representatives, replaced by Alam Campbell, while Ian Murray also lost his post as Scottish minister because Douglas Alexander took over.
Pat McFadden, an official from the Cabinet Office, has been appointed interior minister for work and retired, replacing Liz Kendall.
Meanwhile, John Healey will remain England's defense minister.
