Deputy Governor Taj Yasin Hopes Direct Flights To Malaysia Increase Investment In Central Java

Deputy Governor (Deputy Governor) of Central Java Taj Yasin Maimoen stated that the opening of international routes directly from Semarang to Malaysia is expected to have a good impact on the development of the two regions.

"This is what tourism actors are waiting for, there will have a good impact or not," said Taj Yasin as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, September 5.

He said the inaugural flight of international routes from Ahmad Yani Airport, Semarang to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, was confirmed to have been fully occupied for the first five days since it was reopened on September 5, 2025.

"Their seats for flights from Semarang-Malaysia, as well as vice versa, are already full for the next five days. A total of 8.553 passengers will fly," he added.

Through this direct international flight, he continued, it is hoped that it will increase foreign tourist visits to Central Java this year.

"With direct flights, it is hoped that foreign tourist visits will increase, stay longer," he said.

In addition to tourism, he continued, international flights to Central Java are also expected to encourage increased investment.

Meanwhile, AirAsia Indonesia President Director Achmad Sadikin said Semarang-Malaysia flights are open every day with 180 seats available.

The route through Semarang, he continued, is one of 17 direct flights to Malaysia served by the airline.

He hopes that the opening of international direct flights will bring the community closer, as well as open up opportunities for tourist visits and investors to Central Java.

"The opening of the Semarang-Malaysia route is an important step to open access for foreign tourists to Central Java," he said.
