Indonesian Embassy In Phnom Penh Ready To Facilitate Indonesian Business Interactions - Kratie
"The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, Phnom Penh, is ready to facilitate Indonesia - Kratie business interactions, including by strengthening inter-community relations," said Indonesian Ambassador to Cambodia Santo Darmosumarto.
Ambassador Santo paid a working visit to Kratie, a province in Cambodia located on the border with Cambodia.
In the trade sector, the Indonesian Ambassador saw that Indonesian products had been quite well known and accepted by the Cambodian people. The trade volume of Indonesia-Kamboja was able to penetrate the figure of 1 billion US dollars for two consecutive years (2023-2024). The entry of more Indonesian products can provide more diverse choices for the people of Kratie.
"We need to use the closeness of relations between Indonesia and Cambodia to strengthen the partnership between Indonesia and Kratie," said Ambassador Santo in a meeting with Deputy Governor Kratie Heng Sotha, launching a statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Phnom Penh September 5.
"The Indonesian Embassy in Phnom Penh is ready to facilitate interaction between Indonesian-Kratie businesses, in line with efforts to create a balanced trade balance between the two countries," said Ambassador Santo.
The Indonesian Ambassador himself has invited Kratie businessmen to participate in the Trade Expo Indonesia 2025 which will be held on October 15-19, 2025.
Furthermore, it is said that cooperation between Indonesia and Kratie cannot only be built through the government, but also through inter-community relations.
The Muslim community in Kratie which is quite large has the potential to be an adhesive element for the friendship of the two countries. Educational cooperation can also open up wider opportunities for cooperation. The Indonesian Ambassador invited Kratie students and youth to take advantage of scholarships from the Indonesian government to gain knowledge in Indonesia.
The Indonesian Ambassador also appreciated the support of the Kratie Government in handling Indonesian citizens who were caught in raids to eradicate online fraud, and emphasized the efforts of the Indonesian Embassy so far in urging Indonesian citizens in Cambodia to comply with applicable laws and regulations and work in the legal work sector.
During this visit, the Indonesian Ambassador had the opportunity to make a visit to one of the first and largest mines in Cambodia that had exported clothes to various countries.
Meanwhile, Deputy Governor Kratie welcomed the commitment of the Indonesian Government to strengthen cooperation. Deputy Governor Sotha hopes that the inclusion of investments originating from Indonesia in the leading Kratie sector, namely the agro, agricultural and tourism industries. The products of Kratie's plantations include rubber, sugar cane, cassava, and pomelo/bali line.

Deputy Governor Kratie expressed hope that the cooperation between the twin provinces could be explored to increase Kratie's interaction with Indonesia. The Indonesian Ambassador considered the proposal positive and was ready to facilitate communication with local governments in Indonesia.
It is known, Kratie is one of the provinces located in the northeast at the most end of Cambodia and about 243 km from Phnom Penh.
