JAKARTA - Perum Bulog ensures that all stocks managed in warehouses are strictly guarded so that they meet quality standards and are suitable for consumption.
This was conveyed in response to the news circulating about the quality of Bulog rice.
Director of Operations and Public Services at Perum Bulog, Mokhamad Suyamto, said that Bulog provided an explanation so that the public could obtain accurate and proportional information. Currently, Bulog's rice stock has 3.9 million tons.
Of this amount, continued Suyamto, around 2.95 million tons or 75 percent were the result of domestic procurement, while the rest came from foreign procurement which was carried out based on the Government's assignment at the end of 2024.
Suyamto said that of the total stock of Government Rice Reserves (CBP) currently controlled by Bulog, which is 3.9 million tons of rice, there are rice that get priority for immediately reprocess steps.
The process is a step taken as an action to improve rice so that quality can be maintained, can be distributed and feasible for consumption. The amount is less than 0.1 percent of the total stock we currently manage," he said.
In maintaining the quality of rice in warehouses, he said, Bulog has regular rice maintenance procedures in warehouses and has a strict quality control mechanism through the Integrated Warehouse Pest Management (PHGT) system, namely by carrying out various routine maintenance measures.
Starting from spraying to prevent pests, fumigation if there are indications of pest attacks, to daily monitoring of warehouse conditions and storage environments. Laboratory examinations are also carried out to ensure the feasibility of consumption.
"All of these steps are a form of Bulog's commitment to ensuring that the managed rice stock remains hygienic, safe, and quality," he said.
