The Number Of Palestinian Prisoners In Israel Reaches 11 Thousand People
JAKARTA - The Palestinian prisoner advocacy group confirmed the total number of prisoners imprisoned in Israel rose to more than 11,000, the highest figure since the Second Intifada erupted in 2000.
According to a statement issued by the Palestinian prisoner advocacy group, the number does not include prisoners detained in Israeli military camps. Most of them are administrative prisoners and individuals awaiting trial.
The report also highlighted that among the detainees there were 94 women, including two female prisoners from Gaza, and more than 400 children.
Reported by ANTARA from WAFA-OANA, Thursday, September 4, the number of administrative prisoners reached 3,577 people, the highest number compared to the number of prisoners, convicts and combatants.
The advocacy groups emphasize that the number of detainees classified as "illegal combatants" by Israeli officials reached 2,662 people.
The statement noted that this number did not include all detainees from Gaza who were detained in camps affiliated with the colonial army and classified as "illegal combatants".
This classification also includes prisoners from Lebanon and Syria, the statement continued.
