Police Anticipate Local Homecoming In Bandung By Opening Road Closures

BANDUNG - Bandung Police imposed open road closures on the eve of Eid al-Fitr 1442 Hijri in anticipation of local homecoming in Greater Bandung or the agglomeration area.

Bandung Police Chief Kombes Ulung Sampurna Jaya said the capital of West Java is rarely a tourist destination because of the possibility of more Bandung residents homecoming out of the city.

"So, the possibility that goes into the city of Bandung that wants to shop and walk", said Ulung in Bandung, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, May 12.

The implementation of the open road closures ranging from the Ring 3 area in the city limits to Ring 1 in the city center. The blockade is also an effort to minimize the presence of convoys of Takbiran Muslims.

"We remain persuasive, meaning we will disperse, we will close so they can't walk around", the Chief of Police said.

Meanwhile, Mayor of Bandung Oded M. Danial confirmed that there is a ban on local homecoming between regions in Greater Bandung in order to minimize the spread of COVID-19.

If previously many vehicles from outside the city of Bandung could enter, according to him, it was only limited to the mobility of the community, not homecoming activities.

"So, if the movement of people, it is allowed. For example, many Civil Servants of Bandung City Government whose homes are in the district so they may not work, they are also equipped with a letter of duty", said Oded.

According to him, officers in the field are also quite familiar with road users who are indicated to do homecoming. If it does not comply with the applicable rules, the vehicle will be reversed.

"Usually like to bring a suitcase, bersilaturahmi for example from Cimahi, it's not allowed. Therefore, the SOP must be adhered to as well", said Oded.
