Demanded Housing Allowance Of IDR 70 Million/Month Reduced, DKI DPRD Promises To Adjust To Budget
Deputy Chairperson of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Ima Mahdiah, stated that his party would follow up on the demands of the action masses who asked for housing allowances for DKI Jakarta DPRD members to be reduced.
Ima said the amount of the decrease in the value of housing allowances had not been determined. The evaluation will be carried out through a budget meeting taking into account the condition of DKI Jakarta's local revenue (PAD).
"For the revision, we will discuss it together during the next budget meeting. We will adjust it to the existing PAD," said Ima at the DKI Jakarta DPRD Building, Thursday, September 4.
He added that salaries and allowances for members of the DKI Jakarta DPRD have been used to support the supervisory and absorption function of the aspirations of the community.
"We ensure that the salary and allowances can also be returned to the community through advocacy, through aspirations. So, people can see freely and we can be held accountable to the community," he said.
Previously, a group of people calling themselves the Democracy Social Care Student Alliance held a demonstration in front of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Building. After the DPR RI was demonstrated regarding the increase in housing allowances for Senayan parliamentarians, now the DKI Jakarta DPRD is in the spotlight with similar issues.
The action, which lasted about an hour, attracted the attention of the council members. A number of representatives of the mass action were then invited to an audience.
During the meeting, representatives of the Muhammad Ihsan alliance expressed objections to the amount of housing allowances for DKI Jakarta DPRD members who were considered too high and not comparable to the economic conditions of the community.
"Regarding transparency and accountability on the issue of housing allowances, it needs to be reviewed in our opinion, because maybe it's too big," said Ihsan.
Currently, the leadership of the DKI Jakarta DPRD receives a housing allowance of IDR 78.8 million per month, while DPRD members receive IDR 70.4 million per month.
