Mbah Singo's Turn On The Jember-Banyuwangi Liaison Circuit Starts Opening Today

JAKARTA - The Banyuwangi Regency Headquarters, precisely at KM 233+500 and KM 235+650 known as the Mbah Singo Turnover on the Gumitir Line, Jember Regency, East Java, start open traffic or open traffic functionally today.

The opening is an effort to accelerate the recovery of connectivity and smooth traffic flow on the main route connecting Jember Regency and Banyuwangi Regency.

The Ministry of Public Works (PU) through the East Java National Road Implementation Center (BBPJN) Bali, Directorate General of Highways, accelerated the completion of the national road preservation work on the section.

The decision to implement the functional traffic opening of the Gumitir Line is based on the results of a coordination meeting between BBPJN East Java and the East Java Regional Police, the East Java Provincial Government, the Jember Regency Government, the Banyuwangi Regency Government and various other relevant agencies, last Monday, September 1.

PU Minister Dody Hanggodo emphasized that the preservation of national roads aims to maintain road stability while improving the quality of service, safety and comfort of the community.

"The Ministry of Public Works is committed to continuing to improve accessibility and connectivity between centers of economic growth, including industrial and tourist areas, through stable road infrastructure," said Dody in an official statement, written Thursday, September 4.

As handling at the Gumitir Line bend, the Ministry of Public Works accelerated the bore pile work by 60 points at KM 233+500 and 15 points at KM 235+650.

All work completed 20 days earlier than the initial target planned for September 24, 2025.

"Currently, it remains only a minor work that will continue to be completed until the end of the contract period on December 31, 2025," said Head of BBPJN East Java Bali, Directorate General of Highways, Ministry of Public Works Javid Hurriyanto.

To ensure the safety and comfort of road users during the implementation of open traffic functional, BBPJN East Java Bali continues to coordinate with relevant agencies in traffic regulation, such as the Jember Police, the Transportation Service, Gumitir Volunteers and officers from construction service providers.

Traffic arrangements are equipped with water barriers, safety lines, lights, temporary signs and work safety equipment according to the guidelines of the Directorate General of Highways of the Ministry of Public Works.

In addition, personnel and heavy equipment have also been alerted at the KM 233+500 strategic points and KM 235+650 as a measure to mitigate the potential for landslides and prepare for quick handling in the event of an emergency.

With the completion of this preservation work, the Gumitir Line will be safer, more comfortable and support the smooth distribution of logistics and community mobility in East Java and the surrounding area.

The Gumitir route is a strategic route that is the only southern route connecting Jember Regency and Banyuwangi.
