NIO ET9 Will Have An RCM Feature, Can Automatically Lift The Car To Minimize The Risk Of Collision
JAKARTA The premium electric car manufacturer from China, NIO, has again shown its commitment to technological innovation. Through the Vice President of Product NIO, it was announced that a major update to their car smart system, thelai version 1.2.0, will soon be launched in stages to the owners of NIO ET9.
Reported by ChinaEVHome, Thursday, September 4, this update comes just months after ET9's delivery began in March this year, confirming NIO's speed of providing improvements and new features through the Over-the-Air (OTA) update.
Focus On Safety, Comfort, And Entertainment
Version 1.2.0 brings a series of important improvements covering three key areas: active safety, driving experience, and cabin comfort.
1. Improved Active Safety
NIO introduced the Enhanced Rear Collision Mitigation (RCM) feature, which is claimed to be the first in the industry. This feature proactively helps reduce potential damage from rear collisions. When the risk of collision from larger vehicles is detected, the car's active suspension will automatically lift the back of the vehicle as high as 50 mm in just 0.7 seconds, creating a buffer space to dampen the impact of the collision.
In addition, this update also adds to the Generic Obstacle Alert (GOA) and increases passenger protection during automatic emergency braking (AEB) at low speeds.

2. Smoother Driving Experience
For convenience, NIO added a new mode of SkyDampen anti-shake. This mode actively reduces shocks in the car body while in Park (P) mode, both from internal and external forces. This feature utilizes the full active suspension system SkyRide to provide a more stable and comfortable driving experience.
3. Optimized Smart Cabin
This update also increases the ease of use of frequently used vehicle control interactions, as well as a series of other detailed optimizations to improve overall experience in the intelligent ET9 cabin.
Ted also shared a plan to develop NIO's smart system for the second half of this year. The main focus of the team at this time is on the development and testing of thelai 1.3.0 version.
The version 1.3.0 update is scheduled to debut alongside the latest NIO ES8 shipments by the end of September. ET9 owners will also receive a compatible version of 1.3.0 once the regulatory submission process is complete.
