Airstream Presents Luxury Trailer Edition Frank Lloyd Wright, Produced Only 200 Units
JAKARTA Architectural and automotive lovers can now realize their dream of owning the residence of legendary maestro Frank Lloyd Wright, without having to wait for his original home to be sold on the market. Airstream, a classic aluminum trailer manufacturer from the United States (US), officially launched Frank Lloyd Wright Usonian Limited Edition Travel Trailer.
As reported by RVUniverse, which was continued by Jalopnik, Thursday, September 4, this limited edition is priced at around US$185,000 (around Rp3 billion). Obviously, the equivalent price of houses in several regions in the US is, but much cheaper than the original Wright's house which can penetrate millions of dollars. Interestingly, this trailer can be pulled in an SUV or pickup, allowing its owner to explore the streets while bringing Wright's "home" anywhere.
Limited Edition, Only 200 Units
This 28-foot (8.5-meter) trailer is the result of an Airstream collaboration with Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation. Only 200 units will be produced, making it an exclusive collectible item. Although compact, the interior is able to accommodate up to 4 people with high flexibility ranging from twin beds that can be combined into king-size, food areas that can turn into additional beds, to modular furniture with extensive storage spaces.
Wright's distinctive nuances are increasingly felt with iconic graphics and a touch of warm organic design, combined nicely with the hallmarks of Airstream-style scintillating aluminum.

Airstream CEO Bob Wheeler insists this product is not just nostalgia, but is also relevant to modern consumer needs. Wright's edition trailer is equipped with solar panels with an energy storage system, a smart screen with Bluetooth connections, an audio system with four speakers and subwoofers, to a complete kitchen and an instant hot water system. All these technologies are designed to be hidden so as not to interfere with interior aesthetics.
"With this concept, Airstream wants to show that the house can be anywhere you park it," Wheeler said.
The term 'Usonian' refers to Wright's style of home in the 1930s. The residence is known to be small, more affordable, with the dominance of organic wood materials and built-in elements. Although different materials, Airstream and Wright's collaboration feels harmonious when combined: the two of them both carry the spirit of iconic medieval American design.
No wonder this trailer is believed to attract collectors and high-end architectural enthusiasts. In addition to being a 'home running' for adventure, this unit can also function as the most prestigious guest house in the yard of the owner's house.
