KDM Reminds Regional Heads In West Java Not To Use Public Service Budget To Improve Damaged Infrastructure

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi (KDM) reminded that the repair of infrastructure damaged by demonstrations such as in various districts and cities should not use and interfere with public service spending.

The West Java Provincial Government, said Dedi, has coordinated all regencies and cities in West Java to immediately carry out infrastructure improvements that have been damaged due to recent demonstrations.

"We are coordinating all regencies/cities in West Java to immediately repair infrastructure damaged due to demonstrations. But later the allocation for infrastructure improvement should not interfere with the budget for public services. That is not allowed," said Dedi at the Sate building in Bandung, Wednesday, September 3.

Moreover, said Dedi, until there was a trick to improve infrastructure by cutting the budget for health spending, or spending on education.

"That's not allowed," he said.

Even if the regencies and cities are unable to make independent improvements, Dedi invites them to convey them to the province and will be assisted by the province.

"We anticipate assistance from the provincial government. Later, if the regencies are not able, we will fix it by the provincial government," he said.

Dedi Mulyadi previously promised to facilitate students to have an open dialogue with the West Java DPRD and West Java Forkopimda at Gedung Sate, this Wednesday.

Hundreds of students from representatives of the Student Executive Board (BEM) who are intra-campus student organizations attended and conveyed their aspirations.

Most of the aspirations were conveyed regarding the push to accelerate the ratification of the Asset Confiscation Bill for corruptors, Polri reform, incidents of tear gas around the Unpas and Unisba Campus, to demands for transparency of legislative member benefits such as the DPR and DPRD. Including criticism about regional social media content, which has more elements of populism.

This activity itself, in response to demonstrations in several regions in Indonesia in the last few days, ended in chaos, including in Bandung.

In Bandung due to the demonstration on August 29-30, 2025, at least buildings consisting of assets of the MPR RI on Jalan Diponegoro, a Sambara restaurant, a resident's house on Jalan Gempol, and two bank offices on Jalan Ir H Djuanda, West Java DPRD Building, 10 motorbikes, other food stalls, and infrastructure under the Pasupati Bridge were damaged.

In other areas, vandalism was also reported. One of them is in Cirebon where the Cirebon Regency DPRD Building was burned, damaged and looted by the masses, then in Tasikmalaya the Tasik City DPRD Building also received acts of destruction and looting by the masses.
