Laufey Sets A Record On Billboard Album Charts A Matter Of Time

JAKARTA - Singer and songwriter Laufey set a personal record for his latest album, A Matter of Time, on the Billboard 200 album charts.

The full album of the three Icelandic-Chinese singers topped the Billboard album charts, including the No.1 position of the Independent album charts, No.3 position for Jazz Albums and Traditional Jazz Albums, and No.1 position for Vinyl Albums.

However, what makes the 'A Matter of Time' a new record for Laufey, the album is at No.4 for Billboard 200, the most popular neighbor of the album, which has become a lot of people's references.

Previously, Laufey's highest achievement on Billboard 200 was achieved through his second album, "Bewitched" (2023), with the highest position at No.18.

What made Laufey's achievements this time even more special, 'A Matter of Time' became the jazz album with the highest debut on Billboard 200 since December 1, 2018, when Michael Bub Volkst's album debuted and was in No. 2.

Meanwhile, the 'A Matter of Time' starts with the acquisition of the 99,000 largest units of equivalence albums for Laufey of all time' according to Lumite. Of this number, album sales reached 71,000, while the rest came from the sale of the album units of equivalence streaming and the album unit equivalent of the song.

The album's first-week sales were driven by its availability in eight disks and three CD variants each with one signed edition and a cassette.

For information, the 'A Matter of Time' which was officially released last August 22 contains 14 tracks, including three of which have been released earlier, namely 'Silver Lining', 'Tough Luck', and 'Lover Girl'.

In addition, the album also contains Clockwork, Snow White, Castle in Hollywood, Carousel, Too Little, Too Late, Cuckoo Ballet (Interlude), Forget Me Not, A Cautionary Tale, Mr. Eclectic, Clean Air, and Sabotage.

To develop a voice that balances emotional depth with broader musical influences, Laufey collaborated with Spencer Stewart and Aaron Dessner as producers.
