Park Chan Wook's New Film Becomes A Korean Representative To Oscar

JAKARTA - South Korea proposed the film No Other Choice by director Park Chan Wook as a representative for the Best International Feature category at the Oscars. This announcement was shared by the Korean Film Council.

The announcement was shared a few days after its premiere at the Venice Film Festival. This broadcast received a positive response from the audience.

In addition, Neon has purchased the right to screen this film for distribution in America along with CJ ENM which is the production house of the 2019 film Parasite which won the Oscars.

The committees who chose the film were producer Kwak Sin Ae, Producer Lee Dong Ha, director Shin Su Won and actor Jang Hye Jin.

No Other Choice is considered the most competitive film and has the potential to attract judges with its dark comedy, although they don't reveal which films are included in the selection.

The film No Other Choice tells the story of a man's efforts to defend his home and family after he was fired from his job. The film is played by Lee Byung Hun, Son Ye Jin, Park Hee Soon, Lee Sung Min, Yeom Hye Ran, Cha Seung Won, and Yoo Yeon Seok.

This film is the latest film made by Park Chan Wook after the Decision to Leave was proposed as Best International Feature at the Oscars in 2022 but failed to enter the top five.

Meanwhile, the film No Other Choice will be shown in theaters this year.
