Bulog Projects Absorb 1 Million Tons Of Rice During Year-End Harvest

JAKARTA - Perum Bulog projects to absorb as much as 1 million tons of rice equivalent at the end of the year harvest. This harvest is expected to take place in November 2025.

President Director of Perum Bulog Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani said that currently the government's rice reserves (CBP) in Bulog's warehouse reached 3.9 million tons.

He said this stock would be issued through rice food assistance programs and market operations.

"So the stock is sufficient, even more. The hope is that this one (stock in the warehouse) will come out, later in 2 months our harvest will be able to absorb again. This future absorption will estimate around 1 million tons in the future," he said at the Bulog Headquarters, Jakarta, Tuesday, September 2.

Rizal also said that the government is trying to stabilize rice prices in 214 districts/cities. This is because the average price in the region is at the level above the Highest Retail Price (HET).

Furthermore, Rizal said, one way is by holding a low-cost food movement (GPM) to accelerate the distribution of rice for the Price Stabilization and Food Supply (SPHP) program.

"From the 214 regencies/cities, we will disburse them again with SPHP rice, as well as other commercial rice," he said.

According to Rizal, the distribution of SPHP rice through GPM has been carried out at 4,000 points in a number of areas. On average, Bulog distributes 7,000 tons of SPHP rice per day.

"So yesterday the process for the first day yesterday was reported at almost 10,000 tons, which was simultaneously," said Rizal.

Rizal admitted that he was committed to increasing the number of distributions, especially in several areas with the highest rice inflation.

"The Kapuas Hulu was a bit high. Because the water has receded in Kapuas Hulu, so far it has been transporting logistics through their rivers. Yesterday Bulog's friends have tried their best. They have carried out special operations to Kapuas Hulu with the regent," he explained.
