Flying To Makassar, Grab Boss Anthony Tan Meets Ojol Driver Family Who Died During Demonstration

JAKARTA - online transportation company Grab is committed to long-term protection for driver-partners and their families.

This was shown directly by Grab Group CEO & Co-Founder Anthony Tan who flew from Singapore to Makassar City to express his condolences and at the same time provide support to the family of the late Rusdamdiansyah (Dandi), Grab driver partner who passed away on Friday, August 29.

Grab wants to ensure that in joy and sorrow, their Dandi family never runs alone. Grab support through BPJS Kesehatan health insurance also assists through business capital with GrabKios, so there is a new foothold to continue expectations," said Anthony.

For Grab, this support is not a temporary response. On the other hand, this is a manifestation of a promise to continue to accompany Mitra and her family in any situation.

More than just assistance, this is a form of ongoing attention so that the bereaved family still has the opportunity to develop and be strong in facing the days ahead.

"The safety and security of Driver Partners is always a top priority for Grab. We are committed to attending, not only when Driver Partners work, but also when they and their families experience difficult times. Grab provides real support ranging from compensation to long-term support programs so that Driver Partners feel safe and protected. We also ensure long-term support for heirs, so that affected families are slightly lighter in facing this disaster," added Anthony.

As a broader protection measure, Grab also introduced GERCEP (Fast Response Gate), an additional emergency channel that allows Mitra to report critical conditions and get help soon, which will be active on September 2, 2025.

GERCEP can be accessed via emergency hotline 021-2350-7032, Emergency Response Assistance HelpCenter page at grb.to/gercep, as well as LiveChat service with special agents. This initiative is designed so that every emergency report is handled more quickly, more structured, and gives peace that Mitra is never alone.

Anthony also expressed his deep concern and condolences for the passing of the late Affan Kurniawan in Jakarta, as well as praying for the bereaved family to be given strength and fortitude.

He also sent prayers for the recovery of Moh Umar Amarudin who was treated at the Pelni Hospital in Jakarta, Aji Pratama who was still undergoing treatment at the Tarakan Hospital in Jakarta, and Budi Haryadi at Primaya Hospital in Makassar.

Mitra is never alone. We will continue to be present, accompanying, and walking hand in hand with partners throughout Indonesia. In joy or sorrow, I will always walk with them. Because in the end, this is a matter of humanity, to take care of each other, strengthen each other, and make sure no one faces difficult times alone," concluded Anthony.
