Prof. Ngoerah General Hospital, Denpasar, Cremated 25 Abandoned Bodies, Including 5 Foreign Nationals

DENPASAR - Prof. IGNG Ngoerah/Sanglah General Hospital (RSUP) in Denpasar cremated 25 abandoned bodies, including five foreign nationals.

I Dewa Ketut Kresna, Head of Public Relations for Prof. IGNG Ngoerah General Hospital, stated that the cremation of the abandoned bodies, which were being held at the Forensic Medicine and Rehabilitation Unit of Prof. IGNG Ngoerah General Hospital, took place on Tuesday, September 2-3, 2025, at the Dharma Kerthi Dalem Crematorium in Kerobokan, Badung Regency, Bali.

The dozens of bodies had been stored from 2021 to July 2025.

"There were 25 bodies, consisting of five foreign nationals. The oldest body had been stored since 2021, and the newest body was in July 2025," he said, as reported by ANTARA on Tuesday, September 2.

He explained that all cremations were funded by the Bali Provincial Government through the Bali Provincial Office of Social Affairs, Women's Empowerment, and Child Protection.

All bodies had received clearance letters for cremation from the police, the Social Services Agency, and the consulates of the respective countries.

The cost of care, including the patient's time, treatment, and storage at Ngoerah Hospital, for all bodies amounted to Rp3,585,888,350.

"This is covered by Prof. Ngoerah General Hospital," he said.

Of the 25 bodies, two were Russian, two were Ukrainian, and one was Australian.
