DIY Police Propam Examines 10 Witnesses Regarding Amikom Student Death
YOGYAKARTA - The Profession and Security Division (Propam) of the Yogyakarta Special Region Police (DIY) examined 10 witnesses related to the death of Amikom Yogyakarta University student Rheza Sendy Pratama after the action around the Yogyakarta Regional Police Headquarters, Sunday (31/8).
The Head of Public Relations of the Yogyakarta Regional Police, Kombes Ihsan, said that since Monday (1/9) Propam had asked for statements from eight witnesses.
"Tuesday, September 2, 2025, there are two witnesses who have also been questioned. So that a total of 10 witnesses have been questioned," said Ihsan as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, September 2.
According to Ihsan, the internal investigation is a form of the DIY Regional Police's commitment to follow up on the incident that killed Rheza.
He ensured that the Yogyakarta Regional Police would handle the incident in a professional, procedural and transparent manner.
The DIY Regional Police Propam is still conducting an in-depth investigation and will summon other necessary witnesses.
"The investigation process will continue, of course, and we will convey every 'update' on developments to the community," said Ihsan.

Previously, the BEM Forum throughout DIY through its official Instagram account wrote that Rheza had participated in a demonstration in Yogyakarta on Sunday (31/8).
In addition, the video that recorded the alleged figure of Rheza riding a motorcycle during the action around the Yogyakarta Regional Police Headquarters was also circulating on social media.
Head of BEM Amikom Yogyakarta Alvito Afriansyah believes the figure in the recording is Rheza referring to the type of motorbike he was riding on and the statements of his classmates.
"That's right, it was the victim we saw in the video, that the victim was left behind when the authorities threw tear gas, and maybe the incident happened at that time. (Indications) from the motorbike, and we got the information from a classmate who validated that it was indeed Brother Rheza," he said.
On the other hand, Amikom Yogyakarta stated that they would investigate Rheza's death further.
Deputy Chancellor III for Student Affairs Amikom Yogyakarta Ahmad Fauzi said his party was still gathering information from hospitals and colleagues of the deceased, and hoped that the police would provide a complete explanation of the events that occurred.
