Immanuel Ebenezer Claims Not To Hide Cars At The Office House: My Children Are Afraid

JAKARTA - Former Deputy Minister of Manpower (Wamenaker) Immanuel Ebenezer claimed that he did not order or try to hide three cars from his official residence when he was caught in a hand arrest operation (OTT). He said the car transfer was done out of panic.

"No, we're not hiding it. We'll return it. Yes, it's natural, my children are afraid," said Immanuel after undergoing an examination at the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday, September 2.

Immanuel did not explain anymore about the children in question. He only said he was ready to cooperate with the anti-corruption commission, including the question of two cars whose whereabouts were not yet known by investigators.

"We are very cooperative with investigators. Because we also support what the KPK is doing and I also admit that it is wrong," he said.

"And they respect my gentle attitude in admitting my mistake. So this is regret in my life," continued the former deputy cabinet minister of President Prabowo Subianto.

Meanwhile, KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo said that of the three cars sought by investigators, only one was handed over by Immanuel. The vehicle is now in the anti-corruption commission office.

"Regarding the search for three vehicles, one vehicle has been delivered to the KPK," said KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo to reporters, Tuesday, September 2.

Budi did not specify the type of vehicle or who handed it over.

"For those who delivered us, we can't say yet. What is certain is related parties," he said.

The KPK will certainly hunt down two other vehicles. Budi appealed to those who knew or moved the car to be cooperative.

"Once again, we urge the vehicles to be delivered to the KPK, because the assets are needed in the process of proving the case as well as an initial effort to recover assets," he said.

Previously reported, the KPK named 11 suspects in connection with the alleged extortion of handling work safety and health certificates (K3).

This determination began with a hand arrest operation (OTT) which netted 14 people, including the Deputy Minister of Manpower (Wamenaker) Immanuel Ebenezer.

The following is a list of suspects named by the KPK:

1. Irvian Bobby Mahendro as Coordinator for Institutional and Personnel Affairs K3 for 2022-2025;

2. Gerry Aditya Herwanto Putra as Coordinator for Testing and Evaluation of Work Safety Competence in 2022 until now;

3. Subhan as Sub-Coordinator for Work Safety Dit. Bina K3 for 2020-2025;

The determination of the suspect began with an intensive examination and found two pieces of evidence after the silent operation was carried out. It is suspected that this extortion has been going on for a long time.

This allegation arose because of the large amount of evidence found, namely 15 cars and 7 motorbikes and Rp170 million and US$2,201 in cash.

Meanwhile, Immanuel Ebenezer has been removed from his position as Wamenaker by President Prabowo Subianto. This decision was taken after his legal status was announced by the KPK and submitted to the public by the Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi.
