Barcelona 3-3 Levante: Neymar Admits He's Threatened To Lose His Job At Camp Nou
JAKARTA - Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman admits that his team's performance in the second half against Levante could cost him a job at the Camp Nou.
Barcelona took a 2-0 lead in the first half in a must-win game to keep their La Liga title chances alive.
Levante was able to level the scores at 2-2 before Barcelona took the lead again. However, they were unable to maintain the score and had to end the match with a 3–3 draw.
"Coaches are always questioned", Koeman said after the game, quoted by Marca via Antara, Wednesday, May 12.
"However, I understand after that second half, there were a lot of questions."
'We're disappointed and we're wondering what happened. We have to keep going and get ready for next season".
"As a coach, you are always in charge. We talked in the first half about improving our defense and not lowering our intensity. We were hoping, we won 2-0. You don't expect to play a draw from there".
The Dutch coach admitted that winning the title is increasingly difficult when viewed from Barcelona's current position. Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid beat them in the standings and still have not played a game in the 36th Jornada.
"Our goal is to win all three games and hope the others will lose points", Koeman said. "However, now it is difficult.
"The match lasted 90 minutes and we lost a lot in the second half. They (Levante) caused problems and we didn't defend well".
"Very disappointing. It's impossible to understand what happened. It's hard to explain".
Koeman praised Ousmane Dembele's performance after scoring a goal and an assist in the match.
"He causes a lot of danger on the wing and he is very good at defense", Koeman said. 'It's more extreme for him to play as a wing-back. His counterattack was devastating."
