Google Expands Temporary Chat Features At Gemini To More Devices
JAKARTA After being introduced in early August, the Temporary Chat feature in the Gemini app has finally begun to expand. Gemini users can now access its features on various device types.
Chat Meanwhile is a feature designed to have conversations by prioritizing privacy. Users can chat as usual with Gemini, but the chat won't be saved so it will disappear in the future.
To use the Temporary Chat feature, users can search for a new circle icon on the side panel. The icon depicts a bubble breaking up and located next to the New Chat icon.

After the icon is tapped, Temporary Chat will appear as a substitute for regular chats. Google explains that all conversations in this mode will not appear or be listed on the Latest Chat page or Gemini App Activities.
Conversations made in this mode will also not be used to train the Artificial Intelligence (AI) model. Gemini will only keep user data for 72 hours to help provide relevant and security responses.
However, there are some features that are not available in Temporary Chat mode. Users will not be able to use Gemini Extensions or connected services that require Gemini Application Activity settings.
In addition, users cannot provide feedback on responses or save information for future personalization. That way, all conversations in Chat will temporarily separate from the usual Gemini experience.
This feature is already available to private users on various platforms. Temporary chats can be accessed via the Gemini app on Android, iOS, and also on the web. However, users with work or school accounts cannot use this feature.
