Van Plunges Into 5-Meter Ravine On Cianjur Street, Driver Killed

JAKARTA - The driver of van Budianto (30) residents of Sukamaju Village, Pagelaran District, Cianjur, West Java, died after the vehicle he was driving went into a ravine on Pagelaran Highway, Cianjur.

Pagelaran Police Chief, AKP Tedi Setiadi when contacted said, the single accident began when the van with the pattern D 8274 FN belonged to the delivery service driven by the victim slid from the direction of Sindangbarang towards Cianjur.

"Upon entering the scene, the alleged victim was in a sick condition, unable to control the speed of the vehicle, so the boxcar, exited the lane and then fell into a ravine 5 meters deep", he said, Antara reported.

The driver suffered leg and head injuries, so he was immediately rushed to Pagelaran Hospital for medical attention.

But a few moments into treatment, the victim breathed his last in the hospital.

"Allegations while based on family information, the victim forced himself to carry the vehicle, even in a sick condition. So when passing through the lane, the victim lost concentration and the car went into the ravine", he said.

Eyewitnesses from nearby residents at the scene said the van, which was traveling towards midnight, appeared to have gone out of control a few dozen meters before going into the ravine. The speed of the vehicle is not too fast but had several times out of the way.

"We suspect the driver was drowsy, so the speed of the vehicle was out of control until it finally went into the ravine. The driver was seriously injured by being pinned down by the body of the car after falling into a ravine", said Cengceng the eyewitnesses of nearby residents.
