Komnas HAM Regarding Brimob Rantis Kills Ojol: There Must Be Human Rights Violations
JAKARTA - The National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) revealed that there was a human rights violation in the Brimob tactical vehicle case that hit an online motorcycle taxi driver (ojol) on Thursday, August 28.
"What is certain is that there are human rights violations," said Komnas HAM Commissioner Saurlin P. Siagian at the Police Propam Division Building, Jakarta, Tuesday, confiscated by Antara.
Regarding the details of the human rights violation, Saurlin could not reveal it because it was still in the process of an in-depth examination.
"Later we will prove what the human rights violations are like," he said.
As for today, a case was held in the case of a rantis hit ojol case. Komnas HAM is one of the external parties present.
Saurlin said that in the case title it was concluded that there were violations of ethics and alleged criminal acts.
Later, the handling of alleged criminal acts will be handed over to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police for investigation.
He also ensured that Komnas HAM would continue to monitor the process of handling this case, both in terms of ethics and crime.
"We will continue to oversee this process until it runs in an investigation at the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police," said Saurlin.
Currently, he continued, Komnas HAM is examining the rantis used in the incident and collecting complete facts and all CCTV footage to find out the arrangement of events.
"There are several CCTVs that we have collected and we will analyze all the CCTV. At the same time, Bareskrim Polri, I think we will also do the same thing," he said.

It is known that the Brimob personnel suspected of being involved in this case are Kompol K, Bripka R, Aipda R, Briptu D, Bripda M, Bharaka J, and Bharaka Y.
The National Police's Propam Division has determined that Kompol K and Bripka R have violated the severe category, while five other personnel have been stipulated to have violated the medium category.
The personnel have also been declared to have violated the police code of ethics. They are currently placed in special placements (paths) starting from August 29, 2025 to September 17, 2025.
The Brimob rantis incident hit an ojol driver named Affan Kurniawan on Thursday (28/8) night, after various elements of society that held demonstrations around the parliament complex, Jakarta, were pushed back by the police.
As a result, riots occurred in various areas around the parliament complex, from Palmerah, Senayan, to Pejompongan. The random incident that hit the ojol driver was suspected to have occurred in the Pejompongan area.
