Tesla Recall Model Y 2025 In Australia, Total 7,301 Units Affected
JAKARTA - The Tesla Model Y is the best-selling Tesla model in the world. Based on Tesla's global sales data for 2024 (the full latest year available), the Model Y dominates with about 1.22 million units sold, accounting for more than 68 percent of Tesla's total sales (1.79 million units). This makes it not only Tesla's best-selling model, but also a global best-selling vehicle for the year, beating models like Toyota RAV4 and Corollla.
Now, Tesla must recall more than 7,000 units of the latest Model Y (2025) due to potential errors in the automatic front window on the driver's side.
Based on a report from Drive, quoted Tuesday, September 2, the total affected vehicles reached 7,301 units labeled as 2025 models and affected all variants, meaning the majority of the updated Model Y sold locally is trapped in this recall.
Withdrawal notice, submitted to the Department of Infrastructure, revealed that due to the problem of driver window auto-protection side software may not operate properly.
"This results in windows closing with excessive force on any barrier such as body parts," the report reads.

There have been no confirmed cases of the defects that caused the injury, but recall warns, if the body's body is in the window when the driver's side window is closed, it could increase the risk of injury to vehicle passengers.
Tesla Australia has said that the affected owners will be contacted in writing, and is advised to download the latest software updates to fix the problem.
Owners can check the software version of their latest operating system by navigating to the 'Control' menu, then 'Link Shipping' on the Model Y infotainment system, with a build of 2025.25.6 or later to correct errors.
Tesla Australia advises affected owners not to visit service centers to cope with errors.
