BEM SI Cancels Today's Demonstration: Conditions Are Increasingly Abstract and Unconducive

JAKARTA - The People's Alliance of Indonesian Student Executive Boards (BEM SI) has canceled its planned demonstration in front of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) building today, Tuesday, September 2nd. The cancellation was made due to the still-unfavorable situation in Jakarta.

"Considering the increasingly abstract and unfavorable conditions in Jakarta and several other areas due to the numerous riots, this action falls far short of our expectations," said Muhammad Ikram, Central Coordinator of BEM SI, to reporters on Tuesday, September 1st.

The demonstration was postponed until the situation improves, allowing the people's aspirations and demands to be properly conveyed.

"Instead, we have chosen to take a step back and ensure that the demonstration will still take place at an appropriate time to effectively convey these aspirations and concerns," he continued.

Previously, Muzammil Ihsan, Coordinator of the All-Indonesian Student Executive Board Alliance (BEM SI), confirmed that a demonstration would be held on Tuesday, September 2nd.

"We're not holding it today (Monday), but Tuesday (September 2)," said Ihsan on Monday, September 1.

This action will be a continuation of the demonstration titled Indonesia (C)emas Volume II 2025. Previously, on Monday, August 28, BEM SI held a demonstration with a similar theme, namely Indonesia (C)emas 2025.
