East Java Police Arrest 580 Anarchist Perpetrators In 6 Cities/Regencies, 89 Orang Processed Hulum
The East Java Regional Police arrested 580 anarchist perpetrators in six cities/districts, with details of 89 people being prosecuted, 12 people being questioned, and 479 people being sent home.
"So far, I can convey that the East Java Regional Police and the Resort Police have secured 580 people, of which 89 people were prosecuted, 12 people were under investigation, while 479 people had been sent home," said Head of Public Relations of the East Java Regional Police Kombes Jules Abraham Abast as reported by ANTARA, Monday, September 1.
He explained that this number was the result of prosecution against demonstrations that led to anarchism in the cities of Surabaya, Malang City, Malang Regency, Kediri City, Kediri Regency, and Sidoarjo Regency.
Of the six areas, the police have arrested hundreds of perpetrators of the destruction of public facilities, government offices, and places of worship.
At the East Java Regional Police level, continued Abast, 66 people were arrested, consisting of nine people being prosecuted and 57 people being sent home.
Meanwhile, the Kediri City Resort Police (Polres) secured 20 people, with details of seven being prosecuted and 13 being repatriated, all from the location of the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD).
In the jurisdiction of the Surabaya City Police (Polrestabes), 288 people were arrested, with details of 22 people being prosecuted and 266 people being sent home.
They were arrested from the location of 18 police posts, the Tegalsari Sector Police Headquarters (Polsek), and the Grahadi State Building which also suffered arson.
Abast added that the Tegalsari Police even suffered damage and looting, including the mosque in the police station complex.
"The mosque is a means of worship for the surrounding community and was also damaged by the masses," he said.
At the Malang City Police, the police arrested 61 people, 13 of whom were prosecuted without detention and 48 were repatriated.
Meanwhile, the Kediri Police recorded 124 people being arrested, with details of 23 legal processes, 12 being examined, and 89 being repatriated from the location of the Kediri Samsat Office, the intersection of four cities, and the Kebun Police.

Malang Police also secured 13 people, all of whom were prosecuted. They were arrested from the location of the Kebonagung Traffic Post, Pakisaji Police, Kepanjen Monitoring Post, and Laka Lalu Post.
Meanwhile, the Sidoarjo Police secured eight people, two of whom were prosecuted and six were repatriated from the Waru Post location.
In addition to law enforcement, said Abast, the anarchist's actions also caused damage and injuries to the authorities.
Data for the Medical and Health Sector (Biddokkes) of the East Java Police recorded that 83 Police personnel were injured.
"Of that number, 65 people underwent outpatient treatment and 18 people underwent hospitalization. Some of them suffered fractures, minor brain injuries, and lacerations," he said.
A total of 15 personnel were treated at the Bhayangkara Hospital in Surabaya, one person at the Saiful Anwar Hospital (RSSA) Malang with broken bones, one person at Mitra Keluarga Hospital Surabaya with lacerations to the head, and one person at Bhayangkara Hospital Kediri with lacerations to the front of the head.
Abast emphasized that the police's firm action was taken as a form of law enforcement to maintain security and public order.
"We will not tolerate anarchic actions that damage public facilities or injure the authorities. All will be processed according to applicable law," he said.
