Viral Asean Netizens Crowd Food Messages For Indonesian Ojol Drivers

JAKARTA - A number of citizens in Southeast Asia (ASEAN) have unitedly shown solidarity with the Indonesian people, following widespread demonstrations in recent days. They are busy ordering food via online applications such as Grab and Gojek, with the aim of sharing.

This ASEAN netizen action went viral on social media, especially on X. This solidarity action was first echoed by the @sighyam account with the name Yamami, who is a PR Specialist for ASEAN.

The netizen said that Southeast Asia can order food, drinks, and medicines for online motorcycle taxi drivers (ojol) in Indonesia. He shares how to make orders in the Grab application to be imitated by other ASEAN netizens.

This action was carried out to support ojol drivers who have struggled to demand justice for the death of an ojol driver named Affan Kurniawan due to being run over by a Brimob tactical vehicle in a demonstration situation in Central Jakarta, on Thursday, August 28, 2025.

Friends, I just found out that we can support Grab users in Indonesia who are still roaming the streets because Grab allows us to make deliveries to other Southeast Asian countries? Okeeeeee," wrote the account @sighyam, quoted on Monday, September 1, 2025.

The action carried out by the @sighyam account went viral on social media and was attended by many other ASEAN residents. Starting from Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, even South Korean citizens, the United States, to Australia. Indonesian diaspora in various countries also took part in the action.

"I have reached the limit of my ability to help, but from the bottom of my heart, I hope this will still ease your burden. Eat well and stay strong, Indonesian friends, send love from Malaysia," said Malaysian netizen @smin_nr.

"Send a lot of drinking water bottles to Grab Indonesia drivers from the Philippines. Stay hydrated," said the account @neuroAnjiolina.

Indonesian netizens who saw the ASEAN netizen action then were busy expressing their gratitude, especially to Yamami who took the initiative to start it. Moreover, Yamami is also active in sharing information about what happened in Indonesia through her social media accounts.

"Thank you @sighyam for your solidarity! We will definitely remember the kindness of our ASEAN neighbors and reply or forward it to those who need #WargaASEAN," wrote Indonesian netizens.

"Yammi, you don't know how big a positive impact you have on others. This proves that one person will be able to do one small thing that triggers big movements," added another Indonesian netizen.
