Dedi Mulyadi Estimates Repairment After Violent Demonstration Up To IDR 10 Billion
BANDUNG - West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi estimated the cost of repairs resulting from the demonstrations that ended in chaos on September 29-30, 2025, at around IDR 10 billion.
Although he mentioned the IDR 10 billion figure, Dedi said further calculations would be conducted to determine the exact amount of losses.
"We haven't calculated it yet, but if it's for building repairs and all sorts of things, it's around IDR 10 billion. The estimate is that IDR 10 billion is sufficient for the renovations," Dedi said at the Sate Building in Bandung on Monday, September 1.
The West Java Provincial Government, Dedi said, confirmed it would help renovate the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR RI) mess building, which was burned during a demonstration in front of the West Java Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) building on Jalan Diponegoro, Bandung, on Friday (August 29).
He continued, explaining that several other buildings and facilities affected by the protests, such as looted food stalls, restaurants, the West Java DPRD building, and other infrastructure, would also be damaged.
"Yes, we'll fix it, we'll help. (Using provincial government funds) Yes, we'll help. Because the DPR is giving us the opportunity to make improvements. They've said they want to shift a lot of it," said Dedi.
One of the things that will be shifted, Dedi revealed, is the official travel budget for members of the West Java Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD), both out of the province and abroad.
Demonstrations in several regions in Indonesia in recent days have turned violent.
In Bandung, the demonstrations on August 29-30, 2025, damaged at least two buildings, including the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) on Jalan Diponegoro, the Sambara restaurant, one resident's house on Jalan Gempol, two bank offices on Jalan Ir H Djuanda, the West Java DPRD building, 10 motorcycles, other food stalls, and infrastructure under the Pasupati bridge.
