Just A Month Of Launch, Tesla Now Cuts Model 3 Long Range Price
JAKARTA Tesla officially launched the Model 3 with a range of 830 km (based on the CLTC cycle) on August 12. Now less than a month after its launch, Tesla has again made a breakthrough in the Chinese automotive market. The electric car giant from the US has surprisingly cut the price of the long-range Model 3 variant by driving the rear wheels (RWD) by 10,000 yuan or around Rp. 23 million.
With this price cut, the price tag is now 259,500 yuan Rp600 million.
This Model 3 variant is the furthest-distance electric car Tesla has ever released in the global market. Although its unitary delivery has not yet started, the decision to cut prices so quickly shows Tesla's aggressive strategy to attract consumers in the world's largest EV market. This variant adds the ranks of the Model 3 in China to four options, side by side with the standard version, as well as the dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) and performance that prices remain stable.
In addition to price cuts, Tesla also continued its attractive purchase incentives for Model 3 this September. Consumers can still get 0 percent installment facilities for 5 years and insurance subsidies for 8,000 yuan.

Recent sales data shows a complex picture for Tesla in China. According to data from CnEVPost, quoted Monday, September 1, Model 3 retail sales in July 2025 reached 9,851 units, a decrease of 0.78 percent year-on-year and 40.79 percent from the previous month. This is the third consecutive decline.
However, cumulatively from January to July, the sales of the Model 3 still showed a positive trend with a total of 101,770 units, up 26.54 percent from the previous year.
Meanwhile, Model Y, Tesla's best-selling SUV, faces similar challenges. Its retail sales in July fell 15.24 percent year-on-year and 31.4 percent from the previous month. This decline even led to the total cumulative sales of Model Y from January to July down 17.15 percent from the previous year.
The price cuts for this long-range variant of the Model 3 are expected to be one of Tesla's efforts to restore sales momentum, especially amid intense competition from local electric car manufacturers in China. The delivery waiting time for this latest variant is estimated to be 1-3 weeks, similar to other Model 3 variants.
