JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts cloudy weather and rain with various intensity in a number of cities in Indonesia on early Monday, September 1.

BMKG forecaster Efa Septiani said that in Sumatra, the cities of Banda Aceh and Bandar Lampung are predicted to experience thick cloudy weather and there is the potential for light rain in Medan, Padang, Tanjung Pinang, Bengkulu, Palembang and Pangkal Pinang.

He also warned of the potential for rain accompanied by lightning for Pekanbaru and Jambi areas.

"On the island of Java, Semarang is quite conducive, namely cloudy, then Jakarta and Surabaya are forecasted to be thick cloudy and Serang, Bandung and Yogyakarta are predicted to have the potential for light rain," said Efa, quoted by ANTARA.

In the areas of Bali and West and East Nusa Tenggara, it is predicted that the big cities of BMKG will experience cloudy weather in Denpasar and Mataram and are thick cloudy in Kupang City.

Efa explained that in general BMKG predicts the potential for rain in big cities in Kalimantan. Including light rain in Pontianak, Palangka Raya and Samarinda, as well as rain accompanied by lightning in Banjarmasin and Tanjung Selor.

For cities in Sulawesi, cloudy and cloudy weather has the potential to be experienced in Makassar and Kendari areas. At the same time, he said, there is the potential for light rain in Manado, Gorontalo, and Palu as well as moderate rain in Mamuju.

Meanwhile, in eastern Indonesia, BMKG predicts rainy weather in its cities. Such as light rain in Ternate, Ambon, Sorong, Manokwari, Nabire, Jayawijaya and Merauke, as well as moderate rain in the Jayapura area.
