The Old Town Tourism Area Is Quiet About The Impact Of The Jakarta Chaos

The aftermath of the demonstration in Jakarta in the last few days has made the number of visitors to the Kota Tua tourist attraction, West Jakarta, plummet on Sunday, August 31, 2025.

From data from the Regional Management Unit (UPK), only 569 visitors visited the cultural heritage area with 535 domestic tourists and 34 foreign tourists. They visited the location at 08.00-18.00 WIB.

This number decreased drastically compared to Sunday (24/8), as many as 7,480 people visited Kota Tua, with 7,180 local tourists and 270 foreign tourists.

A number of museums in Kota Tua have also been temporarily closed, following the escalation of demonstrations in the Jakarta area.

The DKI Jakarta Environment Agency (DLH) stated that all locations affected by the demonstration had been cleaned with the deployment of 1,325 cleaning personnel.

"We have completely cleaned all the locations. However, our officers are still on standby to anticipate further waste," said Head of DLH DKI Jakarta Asep Kuswanto.

In the cleaning operation, DLH deployed 1,325 personnel, more than the initial plan of 1,150 officers. They are supported by 51 units of road sweepers, 70 garbage trucks and 49 cross-cars carrying garbage.

The cleaning was carried out thoroughly in five administrative areas of Jakarta with a focus on the location and protocol roads that became the center of the demonstration.
