Hindia, Iqbaal Ramadhan, and Dipha Barus Call for a Reset of Indonesia on Social Media
JAKARTA - Several well-known Indonesian musicians have responded to the current situation in Indonesia by creating a social media movement called "Reset Indonesia."
Those uploading "Reset Indonesia" content to their Instagram accounts include Baskara Putra (Hindia), Efek Rumah Kaca, Endah N Rhesa, Reality Club, Iqbaal Ramadhan, Dipha Barus, Mocca, and many more.
Without further explanation, the content advocates a reset of many institutions in Indonesia, from ministries, the National Police, the House of Representatives (DPR), the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), the Constitutional Court (MK), the Attorney General's Office, and even a system reset.
"Guys, relax, I didn't post a song rather than make it difficult like yesterday," said Baskara, explaining his reason for not posting a song, according to an Instagram post on Sunday, August 31.
The musician, who is also the frontman of .Feast and Lomba Ajaib, has firmly stated his support for the demonstrations that have taken place over the past few days.
He even asked the public not to get involved in the acts of vandalism and looting that have occurred at various locations.
"Be careful about supporting looting, or even simply sharing positive sentiment about it online, even if the targets are people you hate," Baskara wrote.
"The line is very thin between those who are hated and targeted today and those who will be innocent in the future," he continued.
Baskara believes that if looting is allowed to continue, it could lead to people who are genuinely fighting for their aspirations facing stiff resistance from the authorities.
"Not to mention if this looting and positive sentiment are used as justification for authorities to increase pressure and use violence against residents," he concluded.
