Prabowo Subianto And Eight Political Parties Convey Attitudes On Demonstration
JAKARTA - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto along with eight general chairmen of political parties in the DPR RI conveyed their shared attitudes and statements regarding the development of the demonstration situation that occurred in Jakarta and a number of regions.
In his speech, at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Sunday, the Head of State conveyed a number of joint views ranging from imposing strict sanctions on legislators involved to calls for joint efforts to maintain the nation's security.
"For officers who made mistakes or violations yesterday, the National Police has now carried out an inspection process. I have asked for this to be carried out quickly in a transparent manner and can be followed openly by the public," he said.
In his official statement, the Head was accompanied by the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia Megawati Soekarnoputri, MPR Chair Ahmad Muzani, DPR RI Chair Puan Maharani, DPD RI Chairman Sultan Najamudin, and a number of leaders of political parties, including Deputy Chairman of Democrats Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono (Ibas), PKS Secretary General Muhammad Khalid, General Chairperson of the Golkar Party Bahlil Lahadalia, PKB Chairman Muhaimin Iskandar, PAN Chairman Zulkifli Hasan, and NasDem Party Chairman Surya Paloh.
President Prabowo also stated that the government respects the freedom of expression that is purely from society in accordance with the constitution and international rules.
However, he emphasized that acts of anarchism, destruction of public facilities, looting, and treason efforts cannot be tolerated.

Furthermore, the President said that the leaders of political parties had agreed to take internal steps in the form of revocation of DPR membership for members who were deemed to have made false statements regarding the situation.
In addition, the leadership of the DPR also approved the revocation of a number of policies, including the amount of allowances for DPR members and moratorium on working visits abroad.
The President also asked the DPR to immediately open a space for dialogue with community leaders, students, and civil groups so that aspirations can be conveyed peacefully.
At the end of his statement, Prabowo invited all elements of the nation to maintain national unity in the midst of political dynamics.
He reminded the public not to be provoked by parties who want to pit the Indonesian nation against each other.
"Let's maintain national unity. Indonesia is on the verge of a revival, lest we continue to be pitted against each other. Voice our aspirations well and peacefully without destroying, without violence, without looting, without rioting, without acts that harm public facilities," said the President.
