MTI Highlights The Demonstration Of Thousands Of Ojol In The Aftermath Of Affan Kurniawan's Death Which Was Run Over By Rantis Brimob

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Transportation Society (MTI) responded to the solidarity action of online motorcycle taxi drivers (Ojol) who took to the streets demanding justice for the death of Affan Kurniawan, who was run over by a tactical vehicle (Rantis) in Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta.

From the actions that took place from Thursday night to Sunday morning in a number of locations, MTI appealed to the public and the authorities to maintain order.

"We urge all parties, both the apparatus, the community, and the transportation community, to always prioritize humane order, safety, and approach in dealing with any situation," said transportation observer from the Indonesian Transportation Society (MTI), Djoko Setijowarno, Sunday, August 31, 2025.

MTI also invited all elements of the nation to be calm and not provoked.

"You have to do introspection in order to create conducive and peaceful conditions," he said.

Selain itu, MTI juga mendorong dan mengapresiasi semua pihak yang berupaya membuka ruang dialog, membangun rekonsiliasi, dan mencari solusi bersama agar kejadian serupa tidak terulang.

"Dengan demikian, aktivitas ekonomi dan pembangunan, termasuk di sektor transportasi, dapat berjalan dengan baik dan berkeadilan," katanya.

In addition, MTI also encourages and appreciates all parties who are trying to open up spaces for dialogue, build reconciliation, and find joint solutions so that similar incidents do not happen again.

"Thus, economic activity and development, including in the transportation sector, can run well and fairly," he said.
