Sahroni's Safe Looted, Residents Share Singapore Dollars
JAKARTA - The home of Ahmad Sahroni, a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) from the NasDem faction, in the Tanjung Priok area of North Jakarta, was the target of a mob attack. Not only was it damaged, but items inside the house were also looted, including a safe containing US dollars and rupiah in cash.
In a video circulating on social media, the house of Surya Paloh's subordinate suffered extensive damage to almost every room, including a black Lexus.
In another recording, Sahroni's safe was seen being robbed by residents. Money was scattered, and residents were showered with rupiah and dollars.
One resident showed a 1,000 Singapore dollar bill he obtained after the money from the safe was scattered. In another video, residents managed to recover a Richard Mille watch estimated to be worth Rp11.7 million, as well as two luxury Louis Vuitton handbags.
Sahroni is currently reported to have fled to Singapore. Sahroni became a target for the masses because of his controversial statement calling the people "stupid" in response to public protests calling for the DPR to be dissolved.
