Paying Respects at Affan Kurniawan's Home, Puan Promises: "I Will Give A Motorbike"
JAKARTA—House of Representatives Speaker Puan Maharani paid her respects at the home of the late Affan Kurniawan, an online motorcycle taxi (ojol) driver who died after being run over by a Mobile Brigade Corps (Brimob) vehicle during a demonstration in Pejompongan, Central Jakarta. Puan assured that assistance would be provided to the bereaved family.
"Earlier, I also told his family, God willing, the Governor will help his older and younger siblings with their schooling. We will also help them find work and finish their studies," Puan said at Affan's residence on Saturday, August 30.
"I also asked the Governor to provide a KJP (KJMU) card until they are finished," she added.
Furthermore, Puan paid special attention to the family's financial situation, which relies on motorcycle taxi work. She said she would provide a motorcycle for Affan's father to earn a living.
"Because his father currently works as a motorcycle taxi driver, I also stated that if the deceased's motorcycle is damaged or has not been found, I also offered, I also provided a vehicle, and we will also help provide a motorcycle so he can continue his work," Puan explained.
Furthermore, Bung Karno's grandson also asked the police to immediately and thoroughly investigate Affan's tragic incident.
"And I certainly take this opportunity to ask the police and all their staff to thoroughly and transparently investigate and investigate this tragedy," he said.
Puan assured that the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) will monitor Affan's case to ensure it doesn't happen again and is resolved transparently.
"We will certainly monitor this until it's resolved, and we must ensure that an incident like this never happens again, and this tragedy never happens again, because we must safeguard the unity of the nation together. Let's not divide ourselves, let's not sacrifice this nation and country," Puan concluded.
