Puan Visits Affan Kurniawan's Home, Promises To Provide Educational Assistance Until Graduates And Job
JAKARTA - Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, visited the home of Affan Kurniawan, an online motorcycle taxi (ojol) driver who died after being run over by a Brimob Barracuda tactical vehicle (Rantis). Puan arrived at the victim's home to pay her respects and express her condolences directly to the victim's family.
Dressed in black, Puan arrived at Affan's home and immediately embraced the victim's mother.
"I personally express my deepest condolences to the family and parents of the late Affan Kurniawan. God willing, the family will be given strength, sincerity, and fortitude in facing this tragedy, and may the deceased's good deeds be accepted by Allah SWT," Puan stated at Affan's home on Saturday, August 30.
Puan also assured that the victim's family would receive assistance, as Affan was known to be one of the family's breadwinners.
"I also conveyed to his family, God willing, that his older and younger siblings will be assisted with their schooling. We will also help them find work and complete their education," Puan said.
Puan also asked Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung to provide facilities such as the Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) and the Jakarta Excellent Student Card (KJMU) to the victim's younger sibling until graduation.
"I also ask the Governor to provide the KJP and KJMU cards until graduation," Puan said.
Puan was accompanied by several members of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) faction in the House of Representatives (DPR), including Said Abdullah, My Esti Wijayati, Adian Napitupulu, Once Mekel, Selly Andriani Gantina, Mercy Chriesty Barends, and Novita Hardini. Puan was also present with Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung.
