End Of Legendary Era: Suzuki Stops Production Of SV650 And V-Strom 650 Motorcycles

JAKARTA The sad news for fans of the legendary motorcycle, Suzuki. After more than a quarter of a century of paving, Suzuki confirmed that they would stop producing SV650 and V-Strom 650 iconic motorcycles for the 2026 model.

This decision effectively ended the journey of one of the most reliable and loved engine platforms in the history of the motorcycle industry.

Citing the Visordown report, Saturday, August 30, the main reason behind this termination is increasingly tight emission regulations. According to the Suzuki GB Marketing Manager, Jak Jerrell, SV650 is currently on sale under (derogation) exceptions for not meeting mandatory emission standards for 2026. With the exception to expire, Suzuki has no other choice but to pull these two models off the market, particularly in the UK and Europe.

Since it was first introduced in 1999, SV650 has become a mainstay motorcycle for many motorists. This motorbike is known as the ideal choice for beginners, reliable daily motorbikes, and vehicles for those looking for motorbikes that are easy to care for and not scary. With performances continuously improved from 64.2 cellphones to 74.9 cellphones, SV650 has become a charming loyal friend on various road conditions.

The same 650cc V-twin engine is also the heart of the adventurer V-Strom 650 motor, which was introduced in 2003. Although not known as a true offroad motor, the V-Strom 650 has proven itself to be a solid, convenient, and resilient choice for riders who like to travel long distances in all weather. Thousands of "Wee-Strom" units, the nickname of fans, is still paving the streets of England to date.

The termination of production of these two motors also indirectly ended the existence of other models that used the same engine platform, such as SV650S and Gladius SFV650. This marks the end of an era for a 650cc V-twin engine that has been the foundation for so many Suzuki iconic motors over the years.

Although this news is sad, it can reflect on the story of the Suzuki DR-Z400, which was also withdrawn from the market in 2009 due to emission regulations, but is back this year. While the certainty is not yet there, there is always the possibility that SV650 and V-Strom 650 will return in the future in a more modern form, in accordance with applicable emission standards.
