MUI Reminds DPR Members Not To Make People Offended
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) reminds DPR members not to offend the public when speaking or delivering statements in public.
"To members of the DPR, MUI hopes that it does not cause or say anything that offends the public," said Head of Information and Communication of the MUI Leadership Council Masduki Baidlowi as reported by ANTARA, Friday, August 29.
He emphasized that the current economic condition of the community is difficult so that the DPR as the people's representative should be able to understand and protect all Indonesian citizens.
"The people currently suffer a lot below, economically the work is difficult, everything is difficult, therefore, the people's representatives as institutions representing the community should really understand what is their suffering," he said.
Masduki also emphasized that members of the DPR should not convey words or actions that can offend the public.
The widespread mass demonstration in Indonesia which requires members of the DPR to continue to clean up has caused the death toll in Jakarta on Thursday (28/8) night.
An online motorcycle taxi driver, Affan Kurniawan died after being run over by a police car, while another driver, Moh Umar Amarudin, is still being treated.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, emphasized the DPR's commitment to continue to improve in listening to the aspirations of the people following the demonstration in front of the DPR building, in the last few days.
He apologized if there were still shortcomings in the DPR in carrying out its duties as the people's representative.
"On behalf of all members and leaders of the DPR RI, we apologize if we are not fully able to carry out our duties as representatives of the people, the DPR RI will continue to improve in listening to the aspirations of the people," he said.
Puan also emphasized the DPR's commitment to continue to open healthy communication spaces in mutual cooperation and building the nation and state.
