Bali Police Stop Dispute On Mie Gacoan And SELMI Copyright
DENPASAR - Bali Regional Police have stopped investigating copyright disputes between PT. Mitra Bali Sukses, the owner of the Mie Gacoan brand license and the Indonesian Music License Center (SELMI) with a restorative justice approach.
"Between the reported party and the complainant there are no more problems. With this, our handling is automatically declared to have been terminated and this has been completed with restorative justice," said Director of Special Criminal Investigation of the Bali Police Kombes Teguh Widodo, Friday, August 29.
The peace, he said, had been stated in the Peace Agreement on the Copyright Dispute dated August 8, 2025.
On this occasion, Teguh explained PT. Bali Partner Sukses as the reported party has paid royalties of Rp2,264,502,000 to SELMI.
The number of royalties comes from the calculation by the SELMI of all licensed songs played by PT Mitra Bali Sukses on its 10 outlets.
On the same occasion, the Director of PT. Bali Mitra Sukses I Gusti Ayu Sasih Ira said that her party had paid royalties to SELMI until December 2025.
However, he said, his party was still considering whether to continue playing songs on Mie Gacoan outlets in the following year or not.
"For us, actually it (the distribution of music) is only a support. Meanwhile, our main job is to move in the food sector," he told the media crew.
According to Ira, this case is a lesson for PT. Bali partners Success to be careful in playing songs, as well as first study the applicable laws and regulations so that nothing similar happens.
He also conveyed this to business actors engaged in other food and beverage fields in Indonesia.
Ira asked the government to actively socialize royalty rules to business actors in order to have a good understanding of copyright.
Previously, Ira was named a suspect by the Bali Police for alleged violations of the Copyright Law for not paying royalties on a number of songs that have been played on various Mie Gacoan Bali outlets.
At least, there are more than 10 Mie Gacoan outlets in Bali, including Pakerisan, Renon, Teuku Umar Barat, Gatot Subroto, and Jimbaran.
Ira was named a suspect on August 26, 2024.
